Pro Life:
The Pro Life view states that human life should be valued either from conception until natural death. From that point of view any action that destroys an embryo or fetus kills a human being.
Destruction of Human Life
The deliberate destruction of human life is considered ethically or morally wrong. Abortion, along with euthanasia and assisted suicide, are all opposed by some based on a belief that all human life is sacred and must be protected.
Contraceptive Options
The pro life stance opposes certain forms of birth control, particularly hormonal contraception such as ECP's that allegedly prevent the implantation of an embryo and are referred to as abortifacients. The Catholic Church in particular holds this view, a view that is currently disputed within the scientific community.
Motivation for Views
A pro-life position is often, but not exclusively, connected to religious beliefs about the sanctity of life. Secular-humanist views against abortion tend to be in the minority among advocates, but they are a growing movement.
